The most common use of sweetwood is to treat coughs and colds.
Preparation
- Bring the water to the boil.
- When it starts to boil, add the licorice root, bring to the boil and simmer for 3-5 minutes.
- Strain and gargle with the lukewarm tea.
Administration
Gargle with lukewarm tea for 2-3 minutes.
After gargling do not drink or eat for at least 15 minutes.
Observations
Liquorice is particularly useful for treating coughs with expectoration or for treating colds that are accompanied by stomach pains.
Licorice root is known as a soother for inflamed tissue.
